New York State

New York State is one of the Mid-Atlantic states, it borders the Atlantic Ocean, New England, Canada and the Great Lakes.

Capital: Albany.

Largest City: New York City, the most populous city in the United States and a global hub for finance, culture, and entertainment. Other major cities include Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse.

Area: Approximately 54,555 sq. miles (141,300 sq. km), making it the 27th largest state in the U.S.

Population: Around 19.8 million people, making it the 4th most populous state in the U.S. after California, Texas, and Florida.

Founding: New York was one of the original thirteen colonies and played a crucial role in the American Revolution.

Statehood: Admitted to the Union on July 26, 1788, as the 11th state.
